A truly beloved member of the Arlington High faculty passed away last Monday. Cindy Stewart was a peaceful warrior, the kind of person that found delight in daily life, even whilst dealing with the debilitating throws of chemotherapy. Stewart was of the rare breed of people who have the power to make others’ days a little better and every room a little brighter. She will be dearly missed by all.
Last year, the student body engaged in a campus-wide rally to raise money for Stewart’s treatment. This week long campaign, Relentless Week, allowed every member of the AHS community to express their admiration and dedication to Stewart and her family, as well as to other women battling breast cancer. After one week, the Student Council was able to present Stewart with at check for $13,000.
In honor of Stewart’s zest and enthusiasm, there will be a Celebration of Life service on Sunday, Dec. 15 at 3 p.m. at the North Davis Church of Christ, a reception will follow at 4 p.m. Stewart’s husband emphasized that this will be a celebration, not a funeral. He has requested that everyone wear their Relentless shirts from last year.
A scholarship has been created in honor of Stewart. It will be called the Relentless Scholarship. If you’d like to donate, contact Theresa Zimmerman in the main office.
