Basketball season ends, Colts already working hard for next year

The Colt basketball season came to an end on February 16, and while the team didn’t rack up many wins this year, the Colts certainly had a season of growth and development.
“One of our biggest challenges we faced this season was actually becoming a unit and getting that team bond going on,” Casey Howard, junior, said. “I definitely think we’ve gotten better with that over the course of the year.”
The boys ended the season with a 3-11 record. Rather than taking the losses as defeats, the Colts looked at the situation in a more optimistic manner.
“We’ve been putting in work on the court and off, so I know we’re coming back better than ever next season,” Howard said.
In terms of 6A District standings, the Colts tied for last with Paschal out of eight teams, with rivals North Crowley and Martin taking the top two spots.
The boys plan on working on their offense during their off-season, and say they will work tirelessly to become better. One way they plan on achieving this is by attending the “House of Pain” boot camp during the summer with other Arlington student athletes.
“It’s basically a week long tradition we have over break every year, where all athletes expect nothing but torture in stuff like the weight room, running and cardio,” Rachel Tippens, sophomore, said.
The Colts hope to come back stronger next year and prove that hard work and determination pay off on the court.
