Opening up for charismatic and polarizing rapper Cardi B would be considered a difficult and impressive feat for any artist, and Australian singer/songwriter Vance Joy did just that last week with smooth coolness and a radiant vibe that emitted all throughout the outdoor venue at this year’s Coachella.

But that’s not the only thing the “Riptide” singer has been up to since releasing his highly anticipated sophomore album “Nation of Two.” Joy has also announced a worldwide arena tour and kicked off the North American leg on April 13th in Berkeley, California with astounding praise by critics.

Critic Dana Jacobs with musicwhynot.com applauded the production and performance of Joy’s worldwide arena tour, noting it’s subtleness as its strength. 

 “Despite the spectacular light show accompanying the singer-songwriter, [Joy] impressed most with his heartfelt, emotional delivery and rarely moved from in front of the mic, rhythmically tapping his foot along with the beat,” Jacobs said. “Such minimalism worked well, as his songs demand no additional performative flair.”
